Privacy policy
The short version: we only analyze what you choose to submit, your private notes stay private, and we don't track browsing or sell data.
What Vouch is
Vouch (vouchthis.com) helps people check who they're dealing with. You submit something that contacted you — a LinkedIn link, website, phone number, or email address — and Vouch researches it against public web sources and shows what the community has reported about it.
What we collect
Things you submit for checking: LinkedIn links, website addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses, plus any message text you choose to paste as evidence.
Community contributions: the labels, notes, and reports you add to a check.
Account information, if you sign in: your name, email address, and profile photo from Google; the LinkedIn profile URL you claim; and, when phone verification is available, the phone number you verify.
A coarse time-zone region when you submit a check, used for aggregate statistics.
Standard server logs kept by our hosting provider (Google Cloud).
We do not track your browsing, collect your precise location, run advertising trackers, or sell personal data. We only look at what you choose to submit.
What is public and what is private
Public: the identifiers you check, community labels, community notes, pasted messages (shared as evidence), and the research brief. Email addresses submitted for checking are stored as a one-way hash and displayed partially masked, so Vouch never publishes a searchable directory of addresses.
Private to you: your private notes and the free-text account of what happened to you. These are stored so that only your signed-in account can read them.
Visible to moderators only: submission logs, reports, and intake records, used to prevent abuse.
How we use what we collect
To generate research briefs. Submitted identifiers and pasted messages are processed by Google's Vertex AI (Gemini) with web search to produce the risk assessment you see.
To build the shared record, so the next person who checks the same contact sees what others reported.
To prevent abuse: verified identity (Google sign-in, claimed LinkedIn profiles, verified phone numbers) and moderation tools exist to stop impersonation, spam, and coordinated smear attempts. Accounts that abuse Vouch can be blocked.
Who processes data on our behalf
Google Cloud and Firebase host the application, database, and sign-in.
Google Vertex AI processes submissions to generate research briefs.
We do not sell or rent personal data to anyone.
Sign in with Google (and LinkedIn, when available)
Signing in is optional for checking; it is required for claiming a LinkedIn profile, private notes that follow you across devices, and (when launched) forwarding emails for examination. When you sign in with Google we receive your basic profile (name, email, photo). If LinkedIn sign-in is offered, we receive the basic profile LinkedIn provides and use it only to verify that you control the LinkedIn account you claim. We never post to your accounts.
Retention and deletion
Community records stay available so the shared history works. To access or delete the personal data associated with your account — or to request removal of content that identifies you — email us at the address below and we will respond within 30 days.
Children
Vouch is not directed at children under 16.
